{"id":223,"date":"2012-12-22T15:40:50","date_gmt":"2012-12-22T20:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amixa.com\/blog\/?p=223"},"modified":"2012-12-22T15:55:31","modified_gmt":"2012-12-22T20:55:31","slug":"how-to-allow-the-youtube-app-to-play-through-a-watchguard-firewall-proxy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amixa.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/22\/how-to-allow-the-youtube-app-to-play-through-a-watchguard-firewall-proxy\/","title":{"rendered":"How to allow the YouTube app to play videos through a Watchguard WebBlocker firewall proxy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are having problems with iPhones or iPads (or any other device) playing through your Watchguard WebBlocker proxy (via your Watchguard firewall), the fix is very simple.<\/p>\n<p>Presuming you have one of the latest firmwares (11.6.x as of today) and are using\u00a0WebBlocker with a\u00a0proxy combined with the content filtering&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Log into the Watchguard<\/p>\n<p>Go to Firewall-&gt;Proxy Actions<\/p>\n<p>Select and Edit the proxy setup you are using in your network.\u00a0 (you must NOT be using a predefined one, you must make your own).<\/p>\n<p>Go to HTTP Proxy Exceptions<\/p>\n<p>add the following:<\/p>\n<p>*.apple.com<\/p>\n<p>*.youtube.com<\/p>\n<p>so that your entries look like this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-224\" alt=\"proxy action\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amixa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/proxy-action.jpg\" width=\"726\" height=\"660\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amixa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/proxy-action.jpg 726w, https:\/\/www.amixa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/proxy-action-300x272.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Save your changes.<\/p>\n<p>Re-test your app and the application should play.<\/p>\n<p>This worked perfectly on our network and our i-Devices.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are having problems with iPhones or iPads (or any other device) playing through your Watchguard WebBlocker proxy (via your Watchguard firewall), the fix is very simple.
